Photoshop Tutorial

This week we had to choose our own photoshop tutorial online and do it in class. So everyone was working on a different project. I chose "How To Create a Mental Sphere"
http://www.photoshopstar.com/photo-effects/how-to-create-mental-sphere/
I started out finding a background picture of some mountains and adjusted it to the correct image size. Then i took a picture of Jessica at a cheer practice this week. I photoshopped the background out and put her in the middle of the mountain background. Then I followed the steps online, using image glow and different filters. (The finished photo on the website looks slightly different then my finished photo)

Photo #6, Food

This week i chose to shoot photo #6 for food. A couple friends and I went to Godiako Friday night so I decided to take pictures of the sushi! It was really hard for me to get a good picture because im so shaky when i take macro photos, so this was my best photo. I also went back after photo critiques and edited my final photo so take some of the yellow out of it. (That's why the final photo is different then the ones in my slideshow)

Visual Puns!

In this photoshop assignment we had to use photos to explain puns, mine were doctor pepper, fruit flies, and killer whale.

Visual Dictionary

For our photoshop assignment this week we had to work on defining a word using photos, using photoshop to add all the photos to one. Including the word and it's definition. These are my three words, love, power and thirst!

Photo #5, Black and White

This week I chose to do Black and White for my photo 5 assignment. For some, I went through my library and used pictures with dull color that i haven't used, cropped and made them black and white and added them to my album.

I still went around the school and took a few pictures that i wanted to use for the album. But I chose this as my final photo because it shows black and white, macro, and a cool depth of field.

Portrait Demo

Over the week in class we were shown how to shoot portraits in two ways. The first way was in a "studio". The setup had three light sources; key light, back light, and hair light. The second way we were taught was to shoot with light from the window, and then have a piece of white poster board and hold it near the face to get rid of the shadow on the subjects face.
Here is the finished project in photoshop of my two best pictures!

School Context

For this assignment we had to take a simple picture of the school, and add to it. Make it look like something you would never actually at the school. I chose a panoramic that i look outside the school, and added my favorite movie characters to it from Up. We used photoshop to add and edit the pictures onto ours.
Here is my final photo!

Photo #4, Light Painting

This weekend I shot for photo #4, I chose to do light painting. At first, it was really hard for me to get the hang of, but as I shot more photos it got easier and easier. I shot pictures of my violin and my guitar with a white sheet behind them. The violin turned out better because I liked the way the light reflected off of the shine on my violin. The guitar also had some cool ones, but was much bigger so it was harder to do. Which is weird because i chose a guitar one for my final photo. But I shot all of the pictures on about a 10 or 15 second shutter speed. Depending on what design i was doing i would just choose a number between that.
Here is my final photo!

Photo Assignment #3, Macro

This week i chose to shoot macro. At first I wanted to somehow shoot bubbles close up, but as I first tried to take pictures i was running into the problem, i couldn't even see the bubbles. So, i walked around my backyard thinking to go with the typical close up of a flower for macro. But I came across our old raspberry bush, looking close it had a lot of detail I wanted to capture. I chose this picture for my final photo because it shows the most crisp detail, depth of field, and color.

Panoramic Assignment

These are some of my first panoramic's that i shoot around the school last week. We had to take three to five pictures for each panoramic. you then uploaded them onto photoshop, and photoshop basically stitched them together. The only struggle I had was some of my pictures tuned out blurry, so when I tried to put them together parts were blurry.
It also was kind of hard because we could only shoot in the school because the weather outside was so rainy.

Photo Assignment #2, Landscape

For my second photo assignment i chose to do landscape. For this theme I went out on some backroads right by my house. I wanted to make sure the color of the leaves really came out, and the beauty of the countryside. so I tired to get the bars, corn, dirt roads, and trees. I took a lot of pictures so it was really hard to choose what ones I wanted to use for my slideshow and what to choose for my final picture.
This was my best picture shot at an ISO of 80 (same as last week), I didn't adjust my aperture or shutter speed while shooting landscape. I chose this picture because i felt like it showed the best contrast of colors and is had the corn, and the dirt roads. Even though it isn't like a pan of the land, i feel like it describes the landscape in the country and has the warmth i had in mind while shooting.

Here are the rest of my ten pictures, enjoy!

Photo Assignment #1, People

Each photo is shot in a different angle, but they are all very similar, the fisrt picture is the only black and white one in my slideshow, the rest are all in color.

In this assignment I went out and took pictures of my two little sisters, Allison and Andrea. I tried to incoorperate composition skills like balance, symmetry, lines and color. I took several pictures so it was hard to choose which ones to use in my final slideshow. I edited a couple of them using what we learned about photoshop, so I adjusted the levels making the photos either brighter and or lighter.

This is my final photo, it was shot at a ISO of 80. I think it is my best because it is shot at a different perspective and it a clean photo.

Car Photoshop: Retouching

We have started using photoshop a lot more in class, we were assigned to "touch up" a photo of a car.
This is what we started with!
We used different tools in photoshop like the crop tool, we adjusted the levels( making it darker) we tinted the window also using level adjustments, we used the clone tool to cover up some shine spots, then to finish we used the polygonal lasso tool to select the background and fill it black with a normal brush tool. For sure I learned a lot about photoshop. Hopefully I can use it to edit my pictures for our project.

Here is the final photo!

Motion Demo

On Wednesday of this week we had our motion demo. We were taught how to blur the background of the photo while capturing a moving object in front . All you have to do is adjust the shutter speed to about 1/60, keep a steady hold, focus your camera and when the object passes by, you basically pan across.

Amanda's Inspirations To Photo Assignment

Yesterday we were assigned a new photography project. We have a large amount of time to take multiple pictures of different catagories. The first theme i'm using is people. From the website "fickr", I have found a few pictures that help inspire me to go out and start taking pictures of my own.

Some examples I really liked were:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/korkai-uranus/5220596782/

http://www.flickr.com/photos/flutterbye856/506166508/

I hope to be able to apply these into my pictures. Like the blue eyes on a kid, or adding other things in the pictures like flowers or feathers. People could be hard to shoot, but I have some good ideas and hopefully my sisters will let me shoot them!

Photoshop Pop art

In this assignment we had to find a picture of someone or take one of ourself. But once you had one you had to drag it into photoshop, and follow the editing sheet on his website. You had to paste four of your edited photos and adjust the hue and saturation to get the photo go be different colors.
